AUTOMATOR – Defy the laws of nature!”

Thats right. Tonight I saw SF’s one and only Dan the Automator! Dan is the mastermind producer behind wonderful acts such as Kool Keith, Prince Paul’s “Handsome Boy Modeling School”, Deltron 3030, The Gorillaz, and so many more over the years. He usually stays out of the limelight, revealing his name only deep within the folds of the liner notes, as either Dan the Automator, Dan Nakamura, or “Nathaniel Merriweather.” But despite his modesty, he rocks the house, and it was great to see him performing on his own for once.

I had seen Dan earlier that day playing a small set at Vintage Vinyl, a nice local record shop. But he really had the flow on tonight. Not only is he a world class producer, but a fabulous DJ as well.

I went with Billy and Madalene, and we had a great time. Billy bought me a beer (thanks!) and we got some good dancing action in. We also took a lot of pictures using two Fuji 40i digital cameras. Madalene owns one, and Billy liked it so much, he bought his own! It features great picture taking ability, a tiny size, and the ability to make nice little movies! Tommorow, when I’m less tired, and smell less like cigarettes, I’ll post pictures and maybe even some of the movies of Dan mixing it up hardcore!

Until then, keep clean, and don’t smoke at bars, it makes them smell icky.
