New Baby
We have a baby! That is, a baby fish! I have some platys in a 10 gallon fish tank, along with some serpay tetras and cory catfish. Today when we fed the fish, we noticed that one of the platys was looking plumper than usual. She had been that way for a little while, and I thought it was just over-eating. Well a little more detailed survey of the tank revealed a tiny little fish hiding in the plants, ducking out to grab nibbles of food! The platy wasn’t fat, she was pregnant!
We’ve moved the mother to a breeding partition, and have been trying to snare the baby to isolate it until it is big enough to avoid being food for the other fish. Once we get him, we’ll post some pictures.

Sam, I’m supprised at you! All these years of your mom reminding you to “keep it covered” and you forgot to impart this wisdom to your fish. If only your platy would have gotten as fine of an upbringing as you then maybe she wouldn’t have ended up a poor, scared, unwed mother, removed from her aquatic society and placed in a run-down “half-way tank.” Shame, shame, shame on you !!!!!!!
I told them, but it didn’t do any good.. Something about there not being condoms small enough for their tiny anatomy. I seem to recall you having a similar problem, so I thought you’d have more sympathy.
whoa there….be nice…(i know you always have to get him though)
Oh, I wasn’t serious. I know Dennis has got what it takes! You must understand, however, that anytime a man has an opportunity to insult another man’s anatomy, especially when its a public opportunity, he must take it. Dennis would have done the same to me had the positions been reversed.
Besides, the baby fish resent their home being called half-way house. Its made of clear plastic, is yours? I didn’t think so!
